Amazon to hire more than 500 people at Fulfillment Center in Jeffersonville, Ind.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Among the conveyor belts and thousands of Amazon packages, the Wish Fulfillment Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana will have soon have more than 500 new faces.

“It's all due to customer demand,” said Amazon Spokesperson Nina Lindsey.

Amazon is hiring for more than 6,000 jobs across the country and 500 of those are in Southern Indiana.

“They're all great jobs that come with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits starting on day one. So that includes health insurance with 401k with 50 percent match, stock, and bonuses,” Lindsey told WDRB News.

New employees will pick, pack and ship customer orders.

One principle of the online retail giant is "customer obsession rather than competitor focus." It's that mentality, Lindsey says, that allows the company to keep growing and hiring.

“We are a little peculiar at Amazon and we're proud of that. We choose to focus on our customers and we're obsessed about making sure we have that broad selection,” said Lindsey.

That broad selection is far reaching, bringing the benefits right back to where the packages were shipped from.

“Amazon's customers are all over the world. And if the economy is rebounding in a positive way, then we can be very hopeful that what the next couple years have in store for us can only help us take advantage of that,” said One Southern Indiana President Wendy Dant Chesser.

Amazon is also hiring 100 people in Lexington and Hebron, Kentucky at each of those fulfillment centers.

“What I do know is that they love the convenience of shopping online,” said Lindsey.

She says if people keep shopping, amazon will keep hiring.

The Jeffersonville Fulfillment Center currently employs 2,500 people. If you would like to apply, head to www.workatamazonfulfillment.com.
