LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Four people are facing drug charges stemming from a Thursday night bust. One of those suspects is a south Louisville woman accused of selling drugs out of her 82-year-old mother's home. "I'm hot headed and I knew that if I went over there and my kids were here, I might go to jail," said neighbor Mary Dean.

Dean said after finding used needles in her yard she headed to confront her neighbors.

"And she come out and hollered for me. Said, Mary, can you come over here? Yeah! I was coming anyway!"

Dean said she has found at least two needles near the swing set in her yard on Hereford Court in south Louisville.

"She said, 'well, I've got a nephew or a cousin' or somebody, I don't remember who she said that is diabetic, maybe they did it," said Dean.

But Dean doesn't buy that story.

She reacted, "Don't play me for no fool. So, I looked at her and I let her know, no, those are heroin needles...and I know it and you know it."

After dozens of complaints from neighbors, LMPD's Flex Unit raided the home on Thursday evening.

"We recovered heroin, marijuana, prescription pills, ah...Suboxone strips along with some suspected stolen property, which was traded for some narcotics," explained, Sgt. Steve Bailey with LMPD's Flex Unit.

Police say 49-year old Jewell Maples is a known drug dealer and was conducting business inside her elderly mother's home.

Sgt. Bailey said, "She has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance on numerous occasions along with a past history for robbery."

We have cellphone images of some of the other stuff police say was uncover. That included drug needles, cash and a digital scale covered with heroin residue. Police eventually arrested Maples and three other people.

"Ms. Maples, good morning. I'll enter a plea of not guilty for you on these charges," said a Jefferson County Judge.

In court, the judge entered a not guilty plea for Maples but also refused work release.

"We were all very happy to see it," said Dean.

Mary Dean hopes that doesn't change. "She gets out and it's going to go right back to what it was."

Maples is now

facing several drug charges.

Police say they started watching the home after dozens of calls from concerned

neighbors.

Three other people were also arrested at the home Thursday night, including 35-year-old Elizabeth Faulkner of Louisville, 34-year-old Benjamin Hartung of Louisville and 26-year-old Ashley Davenport of Louisville.
