LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man accused of stealing a car was arrested following a high-speed chase Friday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

Det. Scotty Maples says it started when 47-year-old Billy Ray Green stole a car from a Circle K on Eastern Boulevard in Clarksville.

Maples says an off-duty Clark County Sheriff's Office deputy saw a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car and began to pursue it on County Road 403. That deputy followed the car onto State Road 3 and turning on State Road 56 West into Scottsburg, according to Maples.

Maples says law enforcement successfully deployed "stop sticks" -- devices used to flatten a fleeing suspect's tires -- in Scottsburg. Two tires were flattened, and police say Green then pulled into the parking lot of a Walmart.

That's where officers arrested Green. He is now facing numerous charges, including auto theft, theft over $750, resisting law enforcement and numerous traffic violations.
