LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - People helping people - that was the scene Sunday at Randy's Band Aid for Cancer at Expo Five in Louisvile.

The benefit is an annual event that Randy Napier started when he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2013.

Fourteen bands play music all day long and a silent auction raises money to benefit the non-profit organization, Shirley's Way.

Napier says although research is important, this event directly helps people fighting cancer.

"You shouldn't have to choose between surviving with radiation and chemo when you can't afford it or feeding your children," he said.

Shirley's Way was started in 2013, when Mike Mulrooney's mother died from cancer.

"We help them with their house payments, rent, utility bills and things like that," Mulrooney said.
