LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Southern Indiana students are making a big donation to help sick children.

The North Harrison Elementary students raised more than $31,000 for Kosair Children's Hospital as part of a walk-a-thon.

"We feel like it's very important to teach our children that school is not just about school," said Principal Lisa Jones. "School is about learning to be a good citizen. Part of that is taking care of other folks, and that's why we chose to do this walk-a-thon."

In the last 27 years, the school has raised $361,000 for the children's hospital.

Students also got to sign red wagons. They'll be used instead of wheelchairs to take children around the hospital.
