LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Would you believe Louisville's hot steamy weather in August is the reason a new professional tennis tournament is coming to Louisville?

The United States Tennis Association Kentucky Chapter confirms Louisville will host the soon-to-be-to-named women's tournament from August 22 through August 28 from 2016 through 2020.

It will bring some of the top 100 women's tennis players in the world to the city.

"Any time you can bring a top caliber sporting event to Louisville it's a great thing for our community," Louisville Sports Commission's Karl Schmitt said.

According to organizers, Louisville was chosen because of its heat and humidity in August as players prepare for the U.S. Open in New York.

The tournament in Louisville will also fall the week after the popular Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.

The location of the tournament is still to be announced and organizers say to expect some construction to build a state of the art facility.

More details are expected later this week.
