Officials say faulty cable likely cause for Indianapolis underground explosion

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officials in Indianapolis say a faulty electrical cable could be the source of an underground explosion.

The blast happened in downtown Indianapolis in March.

Evidence from an investigation suggests that an underground cable failed.

An Indianapolis utility company said the cable created gas, which traveled into a manhole and ignited a fire.

The explosion left about 1,000 customers without power for several hours.

No one was injured in the explosion.
