UPDATE: Late Wednesday night, police said they had arrested Tyler Tweedy and Heather Lovy. This story has been updated to reflect their arrests.

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Police say a father and son are responsible for several home invasions in Louisville, after 43-year-old Sonny Tweedy was caught last week breaking into a house on Eastern Parkway. Tweedy is now in jail facing burglary charges, but police say he didn't act alone.

Police have now also arrested his son, 21-year-old Tyler Tweedy, and Tyler's girlfriend, 21-year-old Heather Lovy.

Detective Kevin Peak says those two have helped Sonny Tweedy break into multiple homes in the area. They were both arrested late Wednesday night, according to police.

“They're responsible for several (break-ins) within Louisville Metro and, I think, Bullitt County as well,” Peak told WDRB.

Det. Peak says they've also broken into houses in the highlands and Audubon park. He says they're after top dollar stuff.

"Electronics, jewelry -- anything they can get their hands on. Computers. Anything they can take they are taking. TVs,” said Peak.

Police wanted to find Tweedy and Lovy before the next home invasion or before someone got hurt and they did exactly that.

"No one was hurt but like this one, they went into the house and there were kids in the house," Peak said earlier Wednesday, before the arrests. "[The kids] were hiding in the bathroom until we could get there."

Police say Sonny Tweedy was already on home incarceration in Indiana at the time of these crimes.

They say he transferred to Louisville to look for work, but resorted to stealing instead.

"Sonny told us he's addicted to crack and he was doing it to support his habit,” said Peak.

Police said earlier Wednesday Tweedy and Lovy might be hiding in LaGrange and driving a 2012 white Chevy Cruz. Det. Peak says Heather Lovy was picked up in Oldham County.

Tyler Tweedy is now at Metro Corrections, charged with burglary and evading police in car.
