Ky. Governor announces federal funding for study of Tyler Park bridge

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Built in 1904, a historic bridge in Louisville is set to be rejuvenated after more than 100 years of wear and tear.

Governor Steve Beshear announced $120,000 in federal funding to finance a study for the Tyler Park Bridge along Baxter Avenue.

The study will develop a preservation plan.

The bridge has had problems with storm water and sanitary sewer water filtering through the stone structure.

About 11,000 vehicles pass over the bridge every day and allows pedestrians to walk under Baxter Avenue.

The federal money comes from the Transportation Alternatives Program.
