LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A father and son accused of breaking into several homes appeared in court Thursday.

Police say 43-year-old Sonny Tweedy and 21-year-old Tyler Tweedy along with Tyler's girlfriend, Heather Lovy, stole electronics and jewelry from several houses in the Highlands and Audubon Park.

Sonny Tweedy was arrested last week, but Tyler Tweedy and Lovy weren't arrested until Wednesday night.

LMPD Detective Kevin Peak said even though no one was hurt in the burglaries, Sonny Tweedy broke into a home with children inside.

"No one was hurt but like this one, they went into the house and there were kids in the house," Peak said. "[The kids] were hiding in the bathroom until we could get there."

The judge entered not guilty pleas for both men.

Police say Sonny was on home incarceration in Indiana at the time of the crimes. He told officers he stole the items to support a drug addiction.
