UPDATE: University of Louisville Trustees approve 3 percent tuition hike

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- To raise or not to raise U of L's tuition -- that was the question the University of Louisville Board of Trustees were considering Thursday evening -- and the board voted yes.

According to University officials, the move was approved with the only dissenting vote coming from the student representative.

The proposed three percent tuition increase would raise in-state undergraduate tuition to $5,271 per semester. That would generate an estimated $6.9 million for the university.

Last month, the board's finance committee approved the university's $511 million budget.

They met earlier Wednesday and tabled the discussion until just before 5 p.m. while they toured the campus.
