LMPD arrest man accused of causing puppy's death by starvation

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man authorities say caused an animal to starve to death.

Mortez Taylor, 21, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 1400 block of Arcade Avenue, near Taylor Boulevard.

The official arrest warrant says that Taylor "failed to provide adequate provisions" to a puppy, which caused its death.

Authorities say the puppy was found when police came to Taylor's home after he was evicted. Investigators say the puppy was found dead inside a crate. An examination of the animal's corpse confirmed the puppy died of starvation, officials say.

Taylor is charged with animal cruelty.
