LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say two separate shootings happened Monday night and four people ended up in the hospital -- though none of their injuries appear to be life-threatening.

The first of multiple calls came in for a shooting at South 20th Street near Muhammad Ali Boulevard, where officers say two people were shot.

"As soon as I woke up, I heard 'bop, bop, bop, bop', like eight shots," a witness at that scene said. "A black car sped by, we saw out of the front window. We heard another series of shots...this all happened in a matter of minutes."

Not too long after that call came in, MetroSafe said a person had been dropped off at University Hospital with a gunshot wound.

According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, it was later determined that the person was a third victim in the shooting on 20th Street. Police are still investigating that person's role in the incident.

About a half hour later, a shooting was reported at Ballard Park. Mitchell says a nine-year-old boy was privately driven to the hospital and says that shooting appears to be random.

Christopher 2X has been in contact with the family.

“He's going into surgery,” he said. “The bullet injury did some significant damage to his leg based on what the family has shared with me and others.”

Christopher 2X says it's not a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“He was in the right in a sense of what he was doing as a child,” he said. “Having fun, playing basketball.”

Investigators are trying to determine if the shootings are connected, but Metro Police say there are no suspects in either case.
