LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands plan to gather a Chickasaw park Saturday for the annual SummerFest event.

We talked to those organizing the event during Friday's African American Prayer breakfast in Louisville.

This year's free festival focus on good health and nutrition. Healthy food will be on hand, along with gospel music, representatives from the city of Louisville and a kids zone.

The goal is to connect west Louisville residents to healthcare resources.

"For example, the Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center its one of the centers its only four-years-old, but they are really doing a great job. We just want people to know that they're there and we just want people to take advantage of the opportunities and service they provide," SummerFest coordinator Angela Lee Price said.

SummerFest gets started early at 8 a.m., the first gospel artists take the stage at 11.
