Time running out on Oldham County expanded alcohol petition

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Monday marks the deadline to sign Oldham County's expanded alcohol petition.

While individual communities in the county have already passed expanded alcohol laws, this petition wants to expand sales for all of Oldham County.

Right now, people can only buy packaged wine and beer at a few stores.

The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development is leading the effort.

About 3,500 people have signed, but 2,100 more are needed by Monday's deadline.

Voters were invited to fill out a petition card that was mailed to their houses.

If you threw your card away but  want to sign, you can go to Oldham County Chamber of Commerce website.

Enough signatures would mean a special election on the issue.
