Gov. Beshear signs law expanding booster seat regulations

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has signed a new law to keep children in booster seats longer.

The "Booster Seat Law" was signed Monday morning at Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington. It raises the requirement for the use of booster seats from 50 to 57 inches.

State highway officials say seat belts don't fit correctly on children under 4'-9" inches tall.

The age restriction was also raised from seven to eight years old.
