IU Southeast head coach uses baseball field to propose to his girlfriend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A baseball field and a helicopter all played into the plans of an IU Southeast coach who recently proposed to his girlfriend.

According to a news release from the Indiana University Southeast Athletics Department, IU Southeast head coach Ben Reel wanted to propose to Morgan Hayden, his girlfriend of four years. So he painted the words "Marry ME?" on the baseball field, from third base to first base, and rented a helicopter from Sellersburg-based JB Aviation so he could show it to Hayden.

Hayden says it was a brilliant success.

"First, I was full of smiles and laughter from the shock and excitement of him popping the question and then I began to cry," Morgan said, according to the news release. "Reality had set in...I get to marry my best friend and I couldn't be happier."

"How did I get so lucky?" Morgan added, according to the release. "Not only did I get to start my day out with a helicopter ride, but the man I love asked me to marry him while flying over the IUS baseball field. Overall, the day could not have been more special. The experience was incredible and I am so blessed."
