Louisville, KY (WDRB) – Tony Kimbro, Jr. has returned to his hometown…but just for a short time.
Kimbro, Jr is a well-traveled basketball player. The son of the 1985 Kentucky Mr. Basketball and University of Louisville standout started his high school career at Manual, transferred to Arden Christ in North Carolina and then came back to Louisville to play at Jeffersontown.
Kimbro was highly recruited and opted for Georgia State in 2011. When legal trouble forced him to leave GSU, he played basketball in junior college and is now ready to enter his senior at Georgetown after averaging more than nine points and five rebounds per game in his first year there.
“We got a lot of strong players so we should win another championship,” said Kimbro.
Kimbro is back in his hometown playing in the Kentuckiana Pro-Am tournament at Beth Haven Christian School.
“This is a great opportunity to be able to play with the people I grew up with and…people I look up to,” he said.
Kimbro's team advanced in the playoffs Tuesday night.
