LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana University has dismissed safety Antonio Allen from the team, one day after his arrest on numerous drug charges.

The one sentence announcement from IU Athletics said, "Indiana Football has dismissed junior defensive back Antonio Allen from the program effective immediately.” It was emailed to media outlets about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Allen, 20, of Indianapolis, was released on bond from the Monroe County Jail in Bloomington, Ind., Wednesday. WXIN reported Allen tried to hide his face and said nothing to reporters.

Indiana State Police arrested Allen Tuesday afternoon, after officers carried out a search warrant on a home on 19th Street in Bloomington.

Online court records show three felony charges filed related to making and trafficking methamphetamine and other drugs. Allen is to appear for an initial hearing at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Monroe Circuit Court division 9.
