LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, one of 12 GOP presidential candidates, wants to put guns in the hands of pilots.

On Thursday afternoon, Paul introduced the Arming All Pilots Act. The title of the bill says it all, it's an initiative to put guns in the hands of airline pilots.

The Arming All Pilots Act would make it easy for airline pilots to get trained at a federally approved gun range, obtain a gun license and keep a gun in the cockpit.

"I, frankly, would feel safer if there were a bumper sticker on each cockpit door saying 'We are 100 percent armed' instead of maybe 10 percent armed," Senator Paul said.

The Arming All Pilots Act was not the only issue he addressed on Thursday.

Paul also continues to push a new flat tax plan that he says could completely revolutionize the tax system. This plan would get rid of the payroll tax for all working class Americans. Business and individuals would have one flat tax rate of 14.5 percent.

To put this into perspective, Paul explained, "This will be the biggest proposal of any candidate so far, the largest tax reduction in our history, and let's have the debate in our country about where is our money better spent. Is it better spent by the people who earned it or better spent sending it to Washington?"
