LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Multiple police departments responded Saturday afternooon to homicide at a rest stop off I-65 in Shepherdsville.

"911 received multiple calls on an altercation involving anything from a fight to a stabbing, to a crash to they didn't really know," said Ken Bernardi with Shepherdsville police.

Police have identified the victim as Aaron Michael Jerrell, 45, of Tuscumbia, Ala. Investigators say he died from a single stab wound to the arm.

Shepherdsville Police Department received 15-30 calls just before 2 p.m.

"On arrival, officers found the body of a white male laying on the exit ramp from the rest area here at (exit) 112," Bernardi said. "EMS arrived shortly thereafter and determined that he had died from multiple injuries."

A female passenger in the vehicle was question by police, but later released. No charges have yet been filed.

Bullitt County Sheriff's Department assisted in the investigation.

"We'll continue to interview the person of interest," Bernardi said. "We'll follow up on any witness statements and folks who were in the traffic line who may have witnessed anything and anything that turns up in the vehicle."

A Ford truck was taken in for processing at Shepherdsville Police headquarters. A trailer attached to the truck had an Alabama license plate.

Several lanes of I-65 were closed while the scene was processed, but all lanes and ramps are now open.

"We don't know exactly the circumstances yet, we don't know if this was road rage, we don't know if it was domestic, we don't know if the two people were in the same vehicle," Bernardi added. "Right now we have more questions than answers."
