LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officers with LMPD's 1st Division are trying to build relationships in the community to cut down on crime.

Saturday was a part of that process, as they held a crime prevention and quality of life focus fair at the Portland Community Center.

It gave the community a chance to meet the police who patrol their neighborhoods, and provided them with tips on how to prevent crime and report it.

"LMPD is always doing some event that tries to help the community," LMPD officer Robert Oliver said. "...Get the community to see what we do and build relations with the community."

The SWAT team also came out and the bomb squad brought its robot to show off what they do out on calls.
