UPDATE: Names released in two fatal wrong-way crashes on I-264 East

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police continue to investigate two early morning fatal crashes on I-264 East in Louisville.

Two people are dead after separate head-on crashes involving wrong-way drivers on the Watterson Expressway.

Police say Skylar Sampson, 20, was going west in the east bound lanes when he hit a Jeep head-on.

Sampson died at the scene.

Authorities have not yet been able to determine what caused him to drive the wrong way, and are waiting for the results of toxicology tests.

Nearly two hours later,  police say a second wrong-way fatal crash occurred near the Newburg exit.

Witnesses say a driver approached the traffic backup from the first crash, made a U-turn and began driving west in the eastbound lanes.

Police say that woman hit another driver head-on killing him.

The coroner identified that man as Cody Beard, 23, of Louisville.

LMPD is waiting for toxicology tests from that crash as well but officers suspect alcohol may have been a factor.
