Churchill Downs offers fun activities for families on Father's Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Churchill Downs helped dad celebrate Father's Day by offering activities for the entire family.

The track had a petting zoo, pony rides, and inflatables for the kids. There was also an area for the little ones to show off their art skills with chalk.

Dads we spoke with say hanging out with the ones they love is a big reason why Father's Day is so special.

"It's because it's my first kid,” said Josh Broome. “Plus it's his birthday so it's even more special this year."

"We just thought it'd be a really nice day to get out together and spend some time,” said Richard Hardy. “We were really attracted by the kid activities and a chance to showcase -- let them see the ponies a little bit -- just a good time to spend with the kids."

Of course a visit to the track wouldn't be complete without watching a race.

One dollar from every ticket purchased on Sunday will benefit Kosair Children's Hospital which offered a fun obstacle course for the kids and also used the day to highlight men's health issues.
