LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man on parole for manslaughter on new drug charges.

Thomas Gunter, 31, was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 1800 block of Berry Boulevard, near Manslick Road, following a traffic stop.

Police say he told them that he did not have an operator's license. Authorities also say Gunter told them he was on parole for manslaughter.

According to police records, Gunter said there were no illegal substances in his car when asked by officers. He also consented to a search of his vehicle.

Police say officers opened the car's door and that substances suspected to be crystal meth and heroin were in plain sight on a floor mat next to the door.

Authorities also say they located texts regarding drugs on his phone and a drug ledger in the car's center console.

Officials also say an undetermined amount of money was located. Investigators say Gunter initially stated that the money was not his, but then admitted that it was.

Gunter is charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and not having an operator's license.
