LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Islands Exhibit at the Louisville Zoo was evacuated Monday afternoon when construction crews ruptured a low-pressure gas line there, according to MetroSafe.

Zoo officials say the Islands and Herpaquarium exhibits were evacuated and shut down. The Zoo closed at 4 p.m. so most people had already left, but remaining guests were asked to exit.

Animals in the exhibits nearby have been moved into holding areas away from the exhibit areas.

Louisville Fire crews were on scene responding to the call, LG&E crews responded to the call to investigate the situation.
