LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police arrested a New Albany man officials say hit a house with his car while driving under the influence.

David Jedrzejewski, 60, was arrested Monday afternoon, after hitting a home in the 700 block of South Barbee Way, between South Shelby and South Preston Streets.

Authorities say Jedrzejewski had also been involved in another hit and run incident before he hit the house.

The official police report says officers found Jedrzejewski "stumbling around his car" when they responded to the scene. Records also state that he was not able to stand without assistance and he had slurred speech.

Police say Jedrzejewski's car was found in the home's front yard. Authorities say he hit the house and caused damage to the front steps, landscaping and a gas line, which resulted in a leak.

Police also say a bottle of Canadian Mist was found in the car's front passenger floor board.

Officials say a witness told officers he heard the crash from his home and went outside and saw Jedrzejewski drinking alcohol in his car.

Authorities say Jedrzejewski was not able to perform field sobriety tests because he was not able to stand.

Jedrzejewski was taken to U of L Hospital because of his level of intoxication, according to police records.

He is charged with driving under the influence, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident and having an open alcohol container inside a vehicle.
