LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new president is ushering in changes at Louisville's historic Cave Hill Cemetery.

Gwen Mooney is the first female executive in the cemetery's 167-year history.

She says possible improvements include new mausoleums and a family heritage center. New mausoleums would likely have water features, memorial gardens, and art by local sculptors.

"We're in the planning stage right now of potentially a customer service center, which could entail a chapel, a reception center, a history center, that would incorporate a technologically advanced center for people to really look at the people that are buried at Cave Hill, stories behind them, history, genealogy?."

The Cave Hill Heritage Foundation is also set to host a wider variety of educational programming and family engagement events.
