LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police arrested a woman authorities say was intoxicated in public and was accompanied by her young daughter.

Kelley Connell, 47, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Blairwood Tennis Center, located at 9300 Blairwood Road.

The official police report says Connell tried to leave the center with her daughter. Officials say at the time she was "intoxicated by alcohol and possibly other prescription medications."

Police say citizens who were at the center stopped her from leaving by taking away her keys.

Officials say one of the witnesses stated Connell's daughter told her mother as they were attempting to leave the scene, "Mom, you're drunk." The witness stated that Connell then hit her daughter, according to police.

Police say Connell's speech was "extremely slurred and slow." She also was unsteady while walking and had trouble sitting upright, according to officials.

Authorities say Connell's husband came to the scene and told police his wife was addicted to alcohol and prescription drugs.

Connell is charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and endangering the welfare of a minor.
