LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A counselor for Jefferson County Public Schools was arrested last month for driving under the influence, according to court documents.

Police say that on May 31, just before 8 p.m. 52-year-old Barry D. Ruble was seen driving without a seat belt near the intersection of Outer Loop and Preston Highway.

A Louisville Metro Police officer stopped him, and allegedly saw several open beer containers in the front seat, as well as one "cold, unopened can."

Police say Ruble's eyes were glossy and red and his breath smelled of alcohol.

Ruble allegedly admitted to drinking four or five beers earlier in the day, and two in the car.

A portable breathalyzer test registered the presence of alcohol above .171, according to police.

Ruble was arrested and charged with failure to wear a seat belt, possession of an open alcoholic beverage and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to the school system, Ruble is a counselor for Lassiter Middle School. He makes $90,000 a year, according to the JCPS online salary database.
