LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Thursday final is set in the Kentuckiana Pro-Am Summer Basketball League at Beth Haven Christian. The KPA #1 team got 32 points from Jomari Bradshaw and 27 from Orlando Rutledge in a 94-82 win over the KPA #3 team in the first semi-final Wednesday. The regular season champion Overseas Pros took the nightcap 91-84 over Free Agency. Former U of L forward Nate Johnson led the winners with 25 points and one-time IU Southeast Guard Jazz Ferguson added 17. Former Western Kentucky sharpshooter A. J. Slaughter tallied 21 for the Free Agency squad, just three days after returning from Greece and a Euro title.
The Overseas Pros team also includes former Eastern High and Bellarmine standout, Chris Dowe. His basketball travels have already taken him to Germany, Portugal and most recently France, where he says the games get pretty intense.
"You see how the soccer games are on TV in other countries," said Dowe. "That's kind of how it is in basketball. You can hear drums and horns throughout an entire game, so it makes it really hard to hear. It's a really crazy environment, really fun and competitive."
Dowe is currently looking to secure his next season overseas and hopes to keep playing for years to come.
"I want to play as long as I can," said the three-year starter at Bellarmine. "They take care of you. All I had to pay for this past season was groceries and gas money. They provide everything else and make sure you're all right so it's definitely a great opportunity and a blessing."
Dowe also hopes to keep playing in the Kentuckiana Pro-Am in coming seasons. He thinks it's important for area fans to continue seeing top-notch basketball in the summer. And he hopes to bring home a title Thursday night. The final tips off at 7:00 pm at Beth Haven Christian.
