LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- After 45 years and two and a half million bats, it's the final inning for Louisville Slugger's master bat craftsman.

Danny Luckett started making bats in 1970. Since then, he's made bats for nearly ever Major League Baseball player, including 65 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

And today, he made his last one, before coworkers held a special retirement lunch in his honor.

"I just came in, made what I can every day and come back home, and some days are better than others," Luckett said. "We averaged around 300, 350 a day on that machine."

Luckett made his final bat today for Cincinnati Reds star Jay Bruce.

He says Bruce is one of his favorite current players.
