LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials have released the name of the woman who was killed after being dragged by a car in west Louisville on Saturday night.

The woman has been identified as 19-year-old Deniesha Pugh, according to Deputy Coroner Dave Wood.

Wood said Pugh died from blunt force trauma and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:33 p.m. Saturday.

According to witnesses, a White Chevy, believed to be an Impala, was traveling east on Broadway and hit Pugh between 26th and 24th Streets, while she was crossing the street. Authorities are not able to say if she had the right of way.

Officials say Pugh was dragged for several feet, or possibly blocks. Officials also say the vehicle left the scene.

Authorities say the White Chevy Impala believed to be involved in the accident could have front end and windshield damage.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 574-LMPD (5673).
