Officials release name of person killed in Monday morning crash on northbound I-71

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials have released the name of a person who was killed Monday morning in a crash that happened in the northbound lanes of I-71 in east Louisville.

A coroner has identified the victim as 27-year-old Christopher Lee Harmon, of Franklin, Indiana.

According to the coroner, Harmon died from multiple blunt force injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:15 a.m. Monday.

The crash happened at mile marker 7, near the Watterson Expressway. The area was shut down for about four hours.

LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell says Harmon traveling north along I-71 in a Mitsubishi, when the car hit a rock wall. Officials say he over-corrected and went back into traffic. The Mitsubishi then hit a white pickup truck, according to authorities.

Investigators say the driver of the pickup truck and two passengers were hurt, but are expected to recover.

Officials say autopsy and toxicology reports are pending.
