Coroner's office identifies man shot to death near Hazelwood Avenue Sunday night

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A deputy coroner from the Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified a man who was shot to death near Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital Sunday night.

It happened near Hazelwood Avenue and Churchman Avenue shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Deputy Coroner David Wood says officers found 33-year-old Michael Thomas Jr., a black male who lived on Lyman Johnson Drive, near the intersection of Young Avenue and S. 32nd Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:14 p.m. The cause of death, according to Wood, was a gunshot wound.

This was Louisville's ird deadly shooting over the July 4th holiday weekend.
