LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As if going to camp isn't fun enough, s special group of kids received a send-off party too.

On Tuesday morning, 60 kids born with a heart condition were treated to a red carpet, lunch from Salsarita's, caricatures, a photo booth and DJ.

The kids are heading to Camp Brave Hearts in Scottsville, Kentucky, where they'll have even more fun with food fights, arts and crafts, cooking classes, swimming and horseback riding.

Camp counselors say it's a chance for the kids to feel normal.

"All these kids have something with their heart and it's just a common bond we all have and we're a big family," said Samantha Stallings, a camp counselor.

The campers range from ages 6 to 16.

Many of them have gone through surgeries; others still have procedures to come.

The campers are scheduled to return home Sunday.
