LMPD River Patrol suspends recovery operations after body of juvenile pulled from river

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Rescue crews have found a body on the Ohio River near the LG&E Power Plant in southwest Jefferson County Tuesday evening.

It is possible that the body is the last remaining missing person from Saturday's fatal pontoon boat accident. Louisville Metro Police say the River Patrol's search and recovery operations have been suspended.

The body was first spotted by a towboat operator on the river.

Two people were pronounced dead Saturday night at the scene.

Three people remained missing Sunday and Monday, before a body found Monday night near the Falls of the Ohio was confirmed as one of the victims, 37-year-old Danal Swinney.

Another body was found Monday further down the river from the Falls. It has not yet been identified.

The identity of the both bodies will not be confirmed until it is released by the coroner.
