KSP identify officers after suspect fatally shot by Elizabethtown police
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police have identified the officers involved in a fatal shooting of a suspect Tuesday afternoon.
According to a news release from the KSP Post in Elizabethtown, the officers involved are Scot Richardson and Matt McMillen.
Richardson and McMillen responded Tuesday afternoon to a complaint of a man armed with a knife and acting erratically.
That man, now identified as 28-year-old Joshua S. Blough, was found in the 100 block of Fontaine Drive.
When the officers confronted Blough, police say he was armed with a knife and "became agitated and confrontational." Police say Blough ignored numerous verbal commands to drop the knife, and approached the officers in an aggressive manner while still brandishing the knife.
Blough was subsequently shot by the officers, who then administered first aid until EMS workers arrived. He was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS where he was later pronounced dead.
Both McMillen and Richardson have been placed on paid administrative leave per agency policy.
