LOUISVILLE, Ky.(WDRB) -- The family and friends of Meagan Hassler came together Thursday night to launch a service and hopefully prevent another death like hers.

Hassler went missing last month and was found dead just days later near Pendleton Hill Road. Police said her killers came forward and revealed that before murdering her, they searched her body for drugs.

Hassler's family members told us tonight that she was involved with heroin.

"The main message out of this is my daughter got killed because she didn't feel like she had a place to turn," said Jack Hassler, Meagan's father.

The initiative is called "Meagan Awareness Line." This hotline will allow callers to report missing people, suspicious behavior or drug-related activity in their neighborhood. Callers can even get physical and psychological help for themselves if they need it.

Meagan Awareness Line will launch in three months. The hotline was donated by the person who invented the service.
