LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are looking for a suspect after a man was shot and left to die outside a Shepherdsville hotel early Friday.

Police say they are looking for 25-year-old Kevin Ward in connection to the death of a man at the Super 8 Hotel at 275 Keystone Crossroad Drive in Shepherdsville.

"The only thing I can tell you is that he's white, he's male and he's no longer with us," said Officer Ken Bernardi, with the Sheperdsville Police Department, of the victim. Investigators don't know much about the victim, but they do have a suspect.

Police tell us someone called 911 just before 4 a.m. Friday after hearing a gunshot.

When officers arrived at the motel, they found the victim's body in the parking lot.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released. Now police are hoping the public can help.

"Anyone who might have been in any of the restaurants, any of the parking lots, going by or on the streets, because there's a lot of folks going to work at that hour of the morning," Bernardi said.

Police don't know if the victim was staying at the hotel or if he was just passing through.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the Shepherdsville Police Department at 502-921-1000 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 502-215-1588.
