LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A musical performance in downtown Louisville on Saturday turned out to be much more.

Kara Gilkey organized a flash mob at the Belvedere, because she wanted to propose to her girlfriend, Bobbi Jo.

The Elizabethtown couple has been together for nearly 10 years and has a son.

Bobbi Jo had no idea that their trip to Louisville would end like this.

"Well I thought we were doing family photos, and our 2-year-old was having a complete meltdown to the point where I thought we were just gonna pack up and head home," Bobbi Jo said.

"Then all of a sudden, there's dancers behind us and I think 'oh this is cool', let's just watch them, and I had no idea what was happening."

Gilkey started planning the proposal back in December before the Supreme Court  legalized gay marriage in all 50 states.
