LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man authorities say tried to rape a patient at a Louisville hospital on Sunday.

Darelle Oliver, 29, was arrested Sunday evening just before 7 p.m., after police say he tried to rape a female patient at Our Lady of Peace, located at 2020 Newburg Rd. Police say Oliver was also a patient at the hospital.

The official police report states that the patient was sleeping in her room, when she woke up and found Oliver on top of her.

Authorities say the victim told police that Oliver tried to undress her, while holding his hand over her mouth.

Officials say Oliver told the victim to go into the bathroom with him and undress.

Police say Oliver provided a statement admitting to the offense.

Oliver is charged with attempted rape.

He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $10,000 bond.
