LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man charged with raping a female victim.

Michael Alvair, 22, was arrested Monday afternoon at his home in the 300 block of Idlewlyde Drive, near Brownsboro Road, after authorities say he raped a female acquaintance Monday morning.

Official police records say the alleged victim was sleeping on a couch, when she woke up to find Alvair having intercourse with her.

Investigators say the victim's roommate left the apartment to get an item from a vehicle. Police say when the roommate returned, the door to the apartment was "dead bolted from the inside."

Authorities say the roommate had to knock to get into the apartment, which woke the victim.

Police records state the victim went to Floyd Memorial Hospital to complete a sexual assault kit.

Alvair has been charged with rape and he is being held on a $15,000 cash bond at Metro Corrections.
