LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 13-year-old girl that was hospitalized Tuesday after being found unresponsive in a pool has died at Kosair Children's Hospital.

According to Louisville Metro Police, the girl was pulled from a swimming pool around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday near Slaughter Elementary off Fern Valley Road.

A family friend who works for her father said the girl's nickname is Nunu and she swam every morning. A neighbor told us the teen's grandfather ran over to his house after finding the girl in the pool.

"That's when he walked over here to me, he said, 'Brian, man this is my 13-year-old granddaughter. There's no telling how long she's been underneath the water,' and he was just so upset. He put his head down and ran back over there," neighbor Brian Cozine said.

A definitive cause of death will not be known until the coroner releases the girl's name.
