LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Amazon says it plans to add 700 new workers at its Jeffersonville location.

They're some of the 2,100 jobs the company is adding.

The news comes as Amazon holds a day-long sales event, that's touched off a sales war.

Amazon is offering deep discounts in honor of its 20th anniversary to it's Amazon Prime customers.

Deals include $30 off the popular Kindle, a brand new 32-inch smart HDTV for under $200 and 30 percent off select clothing, shoes and jewelry.

Not to be outdone, Walmart is offering deals today and for the next 90 days.

The retailer also reduced its free shipping requirements. Shoppers only have to spend $35 to qualify.

The company even took a shot at Amazon online by posting a banner that said "No Admission Fee."

That's a reference to the $99 annual cost of Amazon Prime.

Amazon responded, criticizing Walmart for charging more for in-store customers than online.
