LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A third alarm fire at a a large, recycling warehouse west of the University of Louisville campus is contained in under two hours Wednesday night.

The fire required 85 firefighters, according to Captain Sal Melendez with Louisville Fire and Rescue.

The fire was first reported around 6:50 p.m. in the warehouse of Recycling Management Resources at 541 Industry Road, off South Seventh Street. It contains recycled paper.

Captain Melendez says the fire was an interior fire, which means the building itself was not compromised.

More than a dozen employees were working in the warehouse at the time the fire was discovered, but no one was hurt.

It was considered a third alarm fire because of the type of building, the type of materials inside, and its potential to become serious, according to Captain Melendez.

The fire department says it will stay on the property to monitor it through Wednesday night.
