CRAWFORD | Commemorative American Pharoah e-book collects WDRB's Triple Crown coverage
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — All right, so American Pharoah lost out on the ESPY Award for Best Championship Performance to a guy (LeBron James) who didn’t win a championship.
The colt and his connections will just have to be content to take home one of the most difficult accomplishments in sports.
The Triple Crown was something to remember. The people who were at the Belmont Stakes that day, those watching at home, the thousands who came out to Churchill Downs to see the colt after he arrived back in Louisville, or crammed into the track for his celebration night a week after winning the Belmont all were looking for ways to hang onto that moment that we all had waited 37 years to see.
Here’s one more way to hang onto it.
I’ve collected all of my stories on American Pharoah, from his arrival in Louisville before the Kentucky Derby, through the three legs of the Triple Crown, and right up to his departure for California to prepare for the next segment of his racing season, all in one e-book that now is available free from WDRB.com.
Along with those pieces, you’ll find my essays on what it was like to cover each race, profiles of trainer Bob Baffert, owner and breeder Ahmed Zayat and jockey Victor Espinoza.
The book is available via iBooks on iTunes for those who read on iPads or iPhones (with the latest IOS phone software). You can find it on Amazon, for a cost of 99 cents. (Amazon doesn’t allow free downloads in the initial stages of a book’s availability to cover distribution costs, whatever those are.) Or, if you want, the book is available via PDF file on the publishing platform Scribd.
If you like what you read, all reviews are welcome. And if you don’t — at least you didn’t spend anything.
If there are problems with any of the products or platforms, feel free to shoot a note to me here.
Thanks to all for reading.
