Man trying to rescue grandmother only person still missing after eastern Kentucky floods

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man trying to rescue his grandmother is now the only person listed as missing in flooding in eastern Kentucky.

In Johnson County, rescue crews searching for victims are battling mosquitoes and snakes. There are also piles of rubble and mud so thick it sucks shoes off their feet.

Scott Johnson is still missing. He was last seen on Monday, wading through floodwaters with his 74-year-old grandmother on his back. Her body was found the next day.

At least two others also died.

"As long as I've lived here it's never happened," said one resident. "I've never seen anything like this."

More than 60 homes have been destroyed, and that number is expected to rise. FEMA is expected to be in the area in the next few days.
