Louisville mom accused of public intoxication at YMCA with children in car
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville mom is facing several charges after police say she was drunk in public with her children present.
According to the arrest report it happened Thursday at the Northeast Family YMCA in the 9400 block of Mill Brook Road in the city's east end. That's where police were called on reports of a woman throwing up outside her SUV with two children in the vehicle.
Police say when they approached 30-year-old Teresa Waggoner her "son was standing on his knees in the back seat trying to lean over and check on his mother."
The arrest report states that both children were sweating and "obviously worried for their mother (who) was laid over across both front seats."
Police say Waggoner was unable to stand when she got out of the vehicle, and that she "fell back against the open door."
Waggoner's son told police they were at the water park until about 1 p.m. and had been sitting in the vehicle for about 30 minutes before police arrived at 2 p.m. The arrest report states that the "temperature outside was 83 with high humidity levels."
Waggoner was arrested and is now charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
