East Kentucky high school collects donations for flood victims

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An eastern Kentucky high school is collecting donations to help area flood victims.

Three people have died in Johnson County and one person is still missing.

Many people have lost all their possessions.

FEMA is already working to help community members.

Food, hygiene products and other supplies are being distributed from Johnson County High School's cafeteria.

Many of the volunteers are students.

"Why not help the people who have been hurt, who are stuck out there, who need food, who need blankets, who need clothing? I just wanted to help," said student Breeona Terry.

Many Johnson County residents still need basic items, such as cleaning supplies and ready-to-eat food.

Roughly 150 homes were affected by flooding.
